Chilly weather out of the door this morning with most locations in the upper 30s to lower 40s. Temps move into the 50s at midmorning and eventually ending with highs in the lower to mid-70s for the majority of eastern Oklahoma. Slightly breezy south winds return today around 10 mph to 22 mph with abundant sunshine. Today will be another fantastic early autumn weather day. The rest of the week features slowly warming temperatures as we move back into the mid and upper 80s by Wednesday ahead of a weak boundary that may briefly knock highs down a few degrees by the end of the week. We are anticipating dry weather this week for the state.

The main upper air pattern is changing. The significant and strong mid-level trough previously centered across the Midwest to the Great Lakes will move east as a broadscale trough attempts to slowly develop across the western U.S. later this week. The upper air flow will be a mixture of a west to northwest flow and should bring at least two upper level systems near the plains this week. The first passes Tuesday into Wednesday and may briefly bring a wind shift from the north across northwestern and far northern OK Tuesday for a few hours. The 2nd nears the state Thursday into Friday may shove a weak back door front across the far northeaster OK region Thursday evening but with little sensible weather impacts. This pattern change should eventually bring the state a chance for storms about a week from today.

The tropics have once again generated storms. TS Gamma is located northeast of the Yucatan Peninsula and will not have a direct weather impact on the U.S. coastal regions. Another wave quickly developing the southern Caribbean is forecast to become tropical storm Delta later today and eventually a hurricane as it enters the Gulf by the middle of this week and may have impacts across the southern U.S. coastal region Thursday or Friday. The current projection keeps this system and tropical moisture to the southeast of the state later this week but would be a wildcard to watch. Most medium range data suggest the above-mentioned western trough will shove a front near the state either Monday or Tuesday of next week with a chance for a few showers or storms. The environmental conditions this week may also slowly increase our fire spread rates as we continue to dry out.
Thanks for reading the Monday morning weather discussion and blog.
Have a super great day!
