Here’s a look at six things to know before you set your alarm for Wednesday.

1.DEBATE ROUND TWO: Vice President Mike Pence and Democratic Vice-Presidential Candidate Kamala Harris square off in their one and only debate Wednesday night at 8 p.m. at the University of Utah. Political experts expect the 90-minute debate to be a more orderly back-and-forth on the issues than the first presidential debate.

2.GOING GLOBAL: Governor Stitt and the state Health Department will launch a global new initiative Wednesday. It’s touted as a way to propel Oklahoma to the forefront of public health preparedness and response. The news conference starts at 11:30 a.m.

3.SAVING OKLAHOMA'S ANIMALS: There’s a video news conference over concerns about the euthanasia rate at animal shelters in the state. The group of organizations, including the Oklahoma City Animal Shelter, will talk about our state moving to the top 10 and the work to end euthanasia of dogs and cats at shelters at 1:30 p.m.

4.HELP FIGHT COVID-19: Another chance for you to help patients fighting COVID-19. The Red Cross will host two blood and platelet drives. One is at Cyntergy in Tulsa from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and the other is at Bethany Church in Broken Arrow from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

5.WINNING TOGETHER: Broken Arrow Schools and the city win a national accolade. The Together Project will be featured in a virtual awards ceremony at 6 p.m. Wednesday. City engineers and high school students created an outdoor classroom and training center focused on floodplains, water quality and other environmental issues.

6.CALLING ALL COFFEE LOVERS: For all coffee lovers, here’s an excuse for a sweet treat. Wednesday is National Frappe Day.
