Sapulpa High School said it is moving forward with this year’s homecoming parade while taking precautions to keep students safe.

School leaders say physical distancing guidelines will be enforced and students will be required to wear a mask if they’re participating in the parade.

Students also being told there needs to be enough room on a float to allow for proper social distancing.

The district already had to cancel the community homecoming pep rally, an event that usually happens after the parade.

Sapulpa High School Principal Seth Shibley said they are glad to be able to have the parade this year.

“We try to promote a sense of belonging and a sense of community,” said Shibley. “And it’s an important thing for our students and our community so we wanted to make sure we do everything possible to make it happen.”

The parade starts at 6 p.m. along Dewey Street in Downtown Sapulpa.
