The questioning phase of the Supreme Court confirmation hearings for Judge Amy Coney Barrett starts on Tuesday.
For the next two days, Democrats are expected to bring up issues like the Affordable Care Act, abortion rights and the presidential election.
The Senate began the confirmation hearings on Monday with opening statements which were followed by a statement from Judge Barrett. In it, she said she would bring a new perspective to the Supreme Court.
Republicans have been defending their decision to fast-track the process this close to election day.
Republican Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina said, "This is a vacancy that has occurred through the tragic loss of a great woman, and we're going to fill that vacancy with another great woman."
Republicans are looking to confirm Judge Barrett quickly, in order for her to hear any legal challenges with the election. Democrats, however, are demanding that she promise to not take part in any election cases.
