Here’s a look at six things to know before you set your alarm for Wednesday.
.REVISITING THE DEATH PENALTY: It’s been five years since Oklahoma has had an execution and there’s a study on death penalty procedures happening Wednesday at the state capitol. Republican state representative Keven McDugle said there’s new evidence in the cases for some of the inmates on death row.
.COVID-19 CHATS: The Cherokee Nation is talking to the Tulsa City Council about COVID-19 protocols. That is at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday.
.FREE FOOD: New Bethel Church of God In Christ in West Tulsa will pass out free boxes of food for those in need. The event is from 10 a.m. until the boxes are gone.
.TRAFFIC ALERT: If you live or drive through Bixby, Wednesday through Friday, Dawes Street at Armstrong Street will be closed for a new downtown river district archway.
.PAW-RIFFIC COSTUMES: There’s still time to enter your dog’s picture for the ‘Costume Chompetitions.’ Gathering Place will announce the winner Wednesday night at 7 p.m. during its virtual Paw-riffic Halloween party.
.THANK YOU, NURSE: Wednesday is Emergency Nurses Day. You’re encouraged to write thank you notes or change your social media picture to show support for emergency nurses.
