Watch: Artist Creates Worlds Largest Rubik's Cube Mosaic Using Rubik's Cubes

A Rubik's Cube artist has created the world's largest mosaic of a Rubik's Cube in honor of the puzzle cube's 40th anniversary on Saturday.

The 26-year-old Italian artist, Giovani Contradict, spent just under 16 hours organizing 6,000 cubes to complete the mosaic.

The artwork is part of the Red Bull Rubik's Cube World Cup which will take place on Saturday.

The toy was invented in 1974 by Erno Rubik and he called it the "Magic Cube," the name was eventually changed in 1980 when the Ideal Toy Company began to distribute it as the "Rubik's Cube."
