Friday night, Republicans held a large rally to “protect the vote” in support of Donald Trump, an event the Tulsa County Democratic Party called “a slap in the face” to election workers.

The Republican Party of Tulsa County hosted the rally at LaFortune Park at 61st and Yale. They’re calling for “all legal votes” to be counted, which they said will secure President Trump’s victory. They also said many of the results are not legitimate.

Organizers said the election results are now up to attorneys and the legal process.

The Tulsa Democratic Party called the rally a “slap in the face” to election board workers.

They said the President’s court challenges are baseless and “an attempt to undermine well-established state election laws.”

They also called on the Tulsa County Republicans to educate individuals on the “thorough ballot-counting process that exists in Tulsa County.”

You can read the full statement from the Tulsa County Democratic Party below.

The Republican Party choosing to hold a Protect the Vote Rally is a slap in the face to the citizens that work countless hours to ensure that Americans have a transparent and secure election process. Not only are the court challenges the President is lodging baseless, they are an attempt to undermine well-established state election laws. It should concern everyone that a member of the Tulsa County Election Board is participating in an event that represents a fundamental failure to understand how elections are conducted in this country. The Tulsa County Republican Party should utilize their self-appointed dual role as leader of the Party and Election Board Representative to educate individuals on the thorough ballot counting process that exists in Tulsa County and support our Election Board and the hard work of the individuals that keep our local Democracy running smoothly.
