A unique fundraising effort took place Saturday in downtown Tulsa to benefit the Tulsa Area United Way.

A property management group agreed to donate $100,000.

As the crowd cheered, all John Maras had to do was walk through a balloon arch and $100 would then be donated to the Tulsa Area United Way.

“This is probably the easiest thing I’ve done to support a cause,” Maras said.

Kaitlynn Meyer and her friend also made sure to add another $100.

“Get the community together and make sure everyone can do their part,” Meyer said.

Tulsa Area United Way President and CEO Alison Anthony said the idea came from Price Family Properties, a real estate management company. She said the property management group agreed to donate the money raised.

Anthony said the $100,000 will go to supporting their 59 partner agencies which helps to fight mental health, homelessness and provide financial stability.

With a pandemic going on, Anthony said this a much-needed donation.

“We are making sure people are fed, clothed, and cared for and, as you know, the need right now is so great,” Anthony said.

Anthony said they are trying to raise about $24 million for 2021. The organization still has $700,000 left to reach their goal.
