Tulsa business owners are celebrating global entrepreneurship week at 36 Degrees North in Downtown Tulsa.
Business owners will be talking this week about ways they've grown their business despite the pandemic.
36 Degrees North said more startup companies pop up during tough economic times.
“Before they’re running kids to soccer practice and football practice, but all of these things have kind of been on hiatus and so because of that they actually have the time to get their passions out of them and so I’ve seen businesses start at an alarming rate as well as thrive throughout the pandemic," said Aaron Whigham.
Aaron Whigham said he's helping 100 Tulsa entrepreneurs start their own business in Tulsa within the next year. 36 Degrees North said since the beginning of the pandemic, they've grown by about 200 businesses, which means more jobs being created in our community.
“Because some of these big businesses today started as small businesses years ago in Tulsa and there’s no reason that the next generation of big businesses and very impactful businesses creating lots of jobs can’t be starting today," said Devon Laney.
Laney is the president of 36 Degrees North and said the discussing happening this week are important to help small businesses learn from each other's experiences.
“There is always going to be someone that has either had some of the same problems you’re running into now that you could learn from or vice versa and that’s a big part of our community right now. You may be in a good spot, but someone else may not be," said Lee Easton.
