The City of McAlester's City Council will be meeting on Tuesday evening to consider extending the city's mask mandate.
The meeting comes as health experts in the McAlester area continue to ask people to follow CDC Guidelines.
The council passed an ordinance in august requiring young people to wear face coverings in public places where physical distancing could not be maintained.
The ordinance is set to expire on November 30 unless the McAlester City Council decides to extend it and the agenda for Tuesday's meeting shows that the council will decide whether or not to do so.
McAlester Mayor John Browne said in a post on his Facebook page that he believes masks slow the spread of COVID-19.
The city council meeting is set to begin on Tuesday at 6 p.m. in the Clark Bass Building at Eastern State College.
