Holidays are a time for celebration and family, but they can also be emotionally and mentally tough on some people. There is good news for people who need help this time of year.

"It has been a roller coaster year as we all know. We are all experiencing COVID fatigue in one way or the other- loss, grief, fear, all of those things," said Dee Harris with Family & Children’s Services.

Harris said the organization has a crisis hotline and the number of calls has not increased as much as they feel it should have with all that families are facing right now. She believes that means there are all age groups of people who are not reaching out for help right now even if they might need it.

"We are a nonprofit and we will work with anybody regardless of their ability to pay. Of course we deal with insurance but the majority of our clients do not have insurance and so people can still call 24-7 regardless of their ability to pay and talk to a professional every day whether they are in crisis or just need a little bit of extra emotional support," said Harris.

The organization has also partnered with My Strength. They offer an app anyone can download from the Family and Children's Services website. In it, you can find free resources for anything from dealing with anxiety to chronic pain.

"You can do the exercises by yourself of course it does not replace a medical professional," said Harris. "You do not have to suffer alone. There is always professionals and individuals that are there to help support you."

You can call the crisis hotline at (918) 744-4800.
