Jenks Public Schools announced Friday that their secondary students, grades 7-12, will be in distance learning January 4-8.
The district said students in grades Pre-k through 6th will resume in-person learning on Monday, January 4.
The district said this extra week of distance learning for secondary students is consistent with their decision to remain in distance learning the week after Thanksgiving break.
The district said they expected a rise in cases following Thanksgiving and saw 39 secondary students test positive for COVID-19 in the week of November 30.
“We will continue moving forward into a new semester and a new year. We will continue our mitigation strategies and our safety protocols. We will continue to closely monitor our numbers, and we will be transparent with you about our decisions,” the district said in a statement.
