A judge sentenced a Virginia man to more than a year in prison for cyberstalking Tulsa Mayor G. T. Bynum.
Adam Donn admitted he sent dozens of threatening and harassing emails and phone messages to Mayor Bynum’s house. Some of the messages included Bynum’s children.
Donn told investigators he hoped the messages would force the mayor to cancel former President Trump’s rally in Tulsa last June.
Bynum issued this statement in response, saying,
"Just want to thank our friends and family who have supported us through this. This terrible ordeal endured by our family is exactly why more good people decide not to serve in public office. We are thankful there are laws that make such hateful and threatening behavior a crime.
We are so grateful for the Tulsa Police Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Office of the United States Attorney for the Northern District of Oklahoma who protected our family, stopped this man from continuing his actions, and brought him to justice.
