Three Tulsa police officers are being honored for their response to a gas line explosion two years ago.
In January 2019, police say a truck hit a gas line near 21st and Memorial, causing natural gas to shoot into the air. Tulsa Police evacuated a two-block radius around the explosion.
Officers Erin Bitting, Heath Brownell, and Grace Hobbs were among the first on the scene. Police say they immediately began evacuating buildings at great personal risk.
All three received the department's medal of valor.
