The Cherokee Nation is establishing a 4,300 acre hunting and fishing reserve for tribal citizens, but the land will first be temporarily used for COVID-19 patients.

According to tribal leaders, they are building temporary structures on the land in Sequoyah County for patients who need to isolate from others during their recovery.

When the pandemic is over, the tribe said that the land will become a place where Cherokee families can hunt and fish.
