Tulsa County will soon be getting a megapod for COVID-19 vaccinations, the Tulsa Health Department announced Thursday afternoon.
The Health Department said these vaccine pods will allow them to vaccinate at least 6,000 people a day.
Dr. Bruce Dart with the Tulsa Health Department said this pod will be a partnership with both state and federal officials, such as FEMA.
Military members and other staff will assist with the distribution and administration of the vaccines.
Dart said they're talking right now about selecting a location, but they don't have a timetable just yet.
They expect to learn more in another meeting on Monday
He said this will expand access and hopefully get even more Oklahomans vaccinated at an even faster rate.
"We actually had our very first conversation about it yesterday with the state, Tulsa and Oklahoma City,” said Dart. “We've all agreed this is a tremendous resource we want in our metro area. So, the planning is underway right now."
Oklahoma County is also getting a similar vaccine pod.
