An Oklahoma State Representative has filed a bill that would require people to bring their pets inside when there’s severe weather.

The bill requires pet owners to provide clean water, safe bedding and a proper shelter for any pet left outside.

If the bill passes the first violation is a $50 fine, the second is a $200 fine and the third is a $500 fine and the animal would be impounded.

Monday alone, workers at Oklahoma Animal Welfare said they received more than 40 animal cruelty calls.
