Here are six things to know before you set your alarm for Friday.
.GET YOUR SHOT: 43 Walmart and Sam’s Club Pharmacies will start giving COVID vaccines Friday to those who are eligible. Head to their websites to make an appointment and you don’t need a Sam’s membership to get a vaccine there.
.IN DESPERATE NEED: Wednesday, the Oklahoma Blood Institute was down to a one-day supply of blood – now that’s dropped to half-day supply with the weather and pandemic. If you can donate blood, head to the Tandy YMCA from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. or the Tulsa Donor Center on East 81st Street from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
.HIGH DEMAND: It’s not just blood in high demand. Peanut butter is one of the food bank’s most-needed items. The kickoff for the Spread the Love Peanut Butter drive is Friday. You can donate at any Reasor’s location through next Friday.
.LEARN A LANGUAGE: There are more multilingual programs for Tulsa Public Schools next year and the deadline to enroll is Friday. If you’re interested in dual-language or language immersion programs, head to the TPS website.
.FILING TAXES: All you early birds – it’s time to file your taxes. The IRS will start accepting filings Friday and Tax Day is April 15.
.YEAR OF THE OX: The year of the rat is out, and the year of the ox is in. Friday marks the Chinese New Year or the Lunar New Year. Experts said the ox is a hard-working zodiac sign and that hopefully the world will be less static than last year and get moving.
