Zaven Collins did plenty for the Golden Hurricane defense during the season and has now earned another national award.
The linebacker from Hominy is the 2020 Lombardi Award winner. The honor goes to the top player in college football based on performance, leadership, character and resiliency.
Collins has declared for the NFL draft after a stellar career with the Golden Hurricane.
For the 2020 season, Collins was named unanimously as the American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year. He also was awarded the Bronko Nagurski trophy, given to the best defensive player by the Football Writers Association of America.
Even further cementing his place as the country’s top college defensive player, Collins won the Bednarik Award and was named a first-team Water Camp all-American, TU’s first unanimous all-American since 1965, just second ever.
