Thursday, Tulsa water crews are working as fast at the can to get the water turned back on for more than 1,700 homes and 126 businesses.
The City of Tulsa is asking people to conserve their water for the time being.
Mayor G.T. Bynum said customers should not see a spike in their water bill. He said the city should be able to absorb the costs of the breaks.
He said federal disaster declaration will also help cover the costs.
The biggest questions people want to know is when their water will be back on and when they can use water appliances again, but the city said they don't have an answer right now.
“Given the large number of breaks that we’re experiencing, I would prepare probably at least one day, maybe two days or more. Right now it’s hard to give a schedule or an estimate when we can get to a repair. Once we do get to a repair, you can usually get that completed at least within a day," said Clayton Edwards, Tulsa's Director of Water and Sewer Departments.
To report a waterline breaks, you can call Water Distribution at (918) 596-9488.
