Tulsa City Crews Hard At Work Repairing Water Breaks

Saturday, February 20th 2021, 9:35 pm

Tulsa water and sewer crews have been working all day to repair waterline breaks.

In the meantime, residents are using water stations provided by the city to fill up.

The city said crews are working nonstop through the weekend as they try to restore service to all customers.

Many Tulsans showed up to the River Spirit Expo to fill their bottles with water.

“This is my first trip,” Tulsa resident Debi Presa said.

It wasn’t Presa’s last trip, as her and her two sons try to fill their bottles at least twice a day. Presa said they haven’t had running water at their home since Thursday.

“We’ve had to take showers, of course, somewhere else, but yeah, it’s been tough,” Tulsa resident Brian Gibson said.

With the amount of water still being lost throughout the system, the city said crews will be closing more lines, which could impact more customers.

Julie Schriner said she is thankful she’s able to get enough water until the waterlines are repaired.

“This is really nice,” Schriner said. “They have it open for anyone to come get water.”

Homebound Tulsa County residents without water can call 211 and the “Be a Neighbor” organization will deliver water to their home.

In addition to River Spirit Expo (10 a.m. – 7 p.m.) and Tulsa Fire Stations (8 a.m. – 8 p.m.) beginning Sunday afternoon, water trucks will be available 24/7 for residents next to the golf course at LaFortune Park (5837 South Yale Avenue), next to the tennis courts at McClure Community Center (7440 East 7th Street) and Lot 4 at the TCC Northeast Campus (3727 East Apache Street).

To access the River Spirit Expo on Sunday, you must enter from the south main lobby at Gate 2. Parking will be available near the Tulsa Golden Driller.

Starting 10 a.m. – 7 p.m. Monday, Tulsa Expo Square water station operations will move to the Exchange Center. To access the Exchange Center, enter from Gate 3 and proceed northeast. Parking with be available south of the building. Residents are asked to enter the South Main Lobby.

Residents must bring their own water containers to all locations. Wearing masks are also required.
