The Oklahoma State Senate will consider a bill that would block the release of police audio or video that shows a law enforcement officer’s death.
Senate Bill 968 was approved by the Senate Judiciary Committee Tuesday. It comes a few months after a Tulsa County judge approved the release of video showing the murder of Tulsa Police Sergeant Craig Johnson in June.
The bill said a judge could still release video to the public should they decide it’s in the public’s interest.
