The Tulsa County Sheriff's Office is looking for a man who they say led deputies on a chase before crashing into a house. The homeowner said he's counting his blessings because he was just inches away from being hit by the truck.

Doug Daniels said it sounded like an explosion when the truck came crashing through his back window around 9:15 a.m. on Wednesday.

"That truck was only that far from coming right through me," said Daniels.

Daniels said he was sitting in his living room recliner when it happened. He said he has a bad back and it took him a few moments to get out of the chair to see what happened.

"I didn't know whether to run, hide,” said Daniels. “It was overwhelming."

He said he got up to see what happened and saw a man lying on a cabinet and his kitchen was in shambles. Daniels said the man got up, then shoved him out of the way.

“All I said was don't hurt me,” said Daniels. “There's the front door.”

Tulsa County Sheriff's deputies say they tried to pull over the man for speeding near Highway 412 and 41st West Avenue. They say he led them on a short chase before crashing into Daniels' home.

"Before we could get a handle on it he had already driven through the fence and into the house,” said Sgt. Marcus T. Berry.

Daniels said he’s had several back surgeries and has battled leukemia. He said he can't work because of health issues, so he loves to paint and was planning to turn the area now covered in debris into his art studio.

He said he likes to paint pictures of the places he's visited while hunting with friends.

“These places we went, that's my memories,” said Daniels. “It’s the story that means more to me.”

Even though this story isn't as happy as the memories in his paintings, he's thankful to be alive.

"I'm fortunate though because he was inches away from taking me. He would've shot me out that window probably," said Daniels.

Daniels said he has family and friends working to help him fix the damage, but knows it will be difficult to pay for while living on a fixed income.

TCSO is following up on leads and canvasing the area. They say the truck came back registered to an owner out of Creek County.

If you have any information about who was driving that truck, call their tip line at 918-596-5600.
