Teachers and staff at Claremore Public Schools received their first Covid-19 vaccine Friday.
Claremore High School acted as a point of delivery for the vaccine, meaning not only teachers and staff got one but so did folks from all over Rogers County.
Teachers and staff were excited the day to get a vaccine finally came.
"Oh my gosh, they were thrilled. This is something we've been working on for, really, honestly for about three months," said Claremore Public School Superintendent Bryan Frazier.
Frazier said about 220 school employees got their first vaccine Friday. In total, about 1,000 vaccines were given out, which includes people in the general public who had appointments.
“Really exciting day for Claremore Public Schools, not just teachers, for all personnel,” Frazier said.
Catalayah Elementary Principal Kellye Shuck said the vaccine will bring peace of mind to the teachers in her building.
"We're just very thankful that it was brought to us and we're able to do it on a day like today and we have had teachers in my building alone that have taken advantage of the vaccine today," said Shucks.
