The Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office will rebuild its reserve deputy program. Sheriff Vic Regalado said the program hit rock bottom six years ago when a reserve deputy shot and killed a man, then was sent to prison for manslaughter.

Regalado said reserve deputies are a vital part of the sheriff's office and community. He said they volunteer their time and do work that saves taxpayer money.

There used to be more than 100 Tulsa County reserve deputies, now there's only about a dozen. The program was suspended after former reserve Bob Bates shot and killed a man, then was found guilty by a jury.
