According to Mother Road Market, the minimum wage is going up for all workers.

The company says it wants to help make sure employees can pay their bills and even save for the future.

"I get paid a little more; it's been awesome,” Busser, Maya Cousins said.

For Mother Road Market employees, Maya Cousins and Deedra Taylor, work has been more relaxing, thanks to their bump in pay.

General Manager, Adriana Prieto said with the support of the Lobeck Taylor Family Foundation, they bumped up their minimum wage in response to the devastating impacts of COVID-19 on the service industry.

The Mother Road Market Livable Wage pays hourly non-tipped employees 79-134 percent above Oklahoma's minimum wage, which is $7.25 per hour.

"It's not livable and that's something we have noticed, and we have to do better that,” Prieto said.

Prieto said they want their employees to be able to meet their personal goals during this COVID era.

She said their non-tipped positions used to get paid $10 to $15 an hour, but now they make $13 to $17 an hour.

Tipped positions also will be audited each pay period and adjustments will be made to ensure the hourly wage is comparable with the company’s new standards.

"I was able to get a new home, that's like really awesome,” Busser, Deedra Taylor said.

Taylor along with Cousins said with how good they're paid now, there isn't a reason to hunt for new a job

Their hourly employees also receive a monthly meal stipend that can be used to purchase food from any Mother Road Market merchant.
