Broken Arrow Police Dept. To Add Oklahoma's 1st Electric Patrol Vehicle To Its Fleet

The Broken Arrow Police Department will add the state's first electric patrol car to its fleet.

Tuesday, the city council approved the purchase of a Tesla Model Y for the department.

It will be assigned to a traffic officer to replace an older car.

During a week-long test of the Tesla vehicle, the department said it exceeded all required needs of a police vehicle.

Officials with the department said while the initial cost is higher than a traditional car, it will save Broken Arrow more money in the long-run.
