Gas Line Ruptured After Car Crashes Into Building

Tulsa firefighters repaired a ruptured gas line after someone accidentally drove through the side of a building.

Firefighters said the woman crashed her car into the building near 51st and Peoria around 4 p.m. Thursday. Crews had to use sledgehammers to break through parts of the wall so they could get the car out.

The crash also ruptured a gas line so they evacuated everyone out of the strip mall while they repaired it.

“We hear a large crash in the back room. I had a very responsive employee that opened the door and went back there and looked, he noticed gas,” store manager Eric Reiman said. “It was foggy with gas in there, it was hard to see.”

The driver was taken to the hospital to be checked out.
