The Claremore Expo Center is opening Wednesday morning for a mass vaccination event open to people in all phases of the state’s distribution plan.
Clinic officials say they are ready to give about 4,000 Oklahomans a vaccine dose today whether they need the first or even the second.
The Indian Health Service, the City of Claremore, Rogers County Emergency Management, Claremore Police and Fire, and OSDH District Four Health Department have partnered together to host the large vaccination clinic open to anyone that is by appointment only.
Appointments can be made through the state vaccine scheduling portal where there is a wide range of appointments from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. today. OSDH said as of early Wednesday morning they still had more than 1,000 appointments available for anyone to claim. CLICK HERE for scheduling.
The appointments are open to anyone in phases 1-4 and you do have the option to get your first or second dose, whichever you may need.
Taylor Thompson with District four of the State Health Department said it is exciting to know most people are getting a second dose already.
“It’s very exciting, it’s something we wanted to provide to the Rogers County community and surrounding areas, we can get people both their doses and get back to daily activities,” Thompson said.
If you are getting your second dose, OSDH asks that you bring your vaccination card with you.
They did originally have Johnson and Johnson vaccine appointments available as well, but those were taken off the table due to the CDC asking for halted use while it investigates a handful of cases of severe side effects across the country.
