Tulsa will become just the third site in the country to welcome Amazon’s new electric delivery vehicles.
Tulsa is one of the cities where Amazon is testing the vans ahead of an expansion to other cities next year.
The custom electric delivery vans were first rolled out in Los Angeles, the San Francisco and now Tulsa. Amazon said Tulsa was picked because of “its great customers, unique terrain, climate and suburban makeup.”
Amazon said the new vans are part of the company’s plan to cut all of its carbon emissions by the year 2040.
“From what we've seen, this is one of the fastest modern commercial electrification programs, and we’re incredibly proud of that. We’ve chosen Tulsa’s vast urban districts to be among our first sites for additional testing of the vehicle’s performance, safety, and durability. We’re excited to see the vehicle cruising past the city’s vibrant art displays and for our Tulsa customers to be among the first to see these vehicles,” Ross Rachey, Director of Amazon's Global Fleet and Products said.
Amazon hopes to have 10,000 vans operating nationwide by next year.
