Broken Arrow Elects New Mayor, Vice Mayor

The City of Broken Arrow has elected a new mayor and vice mayor.

Ward 1 City Councilor Debra Wimpee was elected to serve as mayor and Christi Gillespie was elected as vice mayor during a meeting Tuesday.

Both will serve two-year terms.

This is the first time in history two women have served as mayor and vice mayor together. According to city records, it is also the first time three women will serve on the city council together, after newly-elected councilor Lisa Ford (Ward 2) joins the council.
