Oklahoma Democrats filed a formal complaint against State Senator Nathan Dahm following sexual comments about Vice President Kamala Harris.

The Broken Arrow Republican is standing by sexual remarks he made about Harris, during a discussion about paper straw legislation, including his claim that Harris got her start in politics by providing sexual favors.

"I was specifically talking about one person in particular. So anybody that is trying to make this about all women is disingenuous. Whether they are being intentionally disingenuous or not. My comments were not about all women, they were about one person in particular, and her actions."

Senate President Pro Tempore Greg Treat, the highest-ranking Republican in the state senate, called Dahm’s remarks “misogynistic, disrespectful and immature.”

Democratic leader Kay Floyd said Dahm violated the Senate's Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards.

“People can't take a joke. Part of that is because with most jokes, there is an underlying element of truth. And in this day and age, truth is being attacked and assaulted,” Dahm said.

There’s no word on if Dahm will be disciplined.
