Tulsa’s Mayor G.T. Bynum announced the city’s mask requirement for restaurant and bar employees will end on the end of the day on April 30.

Previously, this part of the mask mandate was to stay in place.

Mayor Bynum said the change is due to data and consulting with health officials.

“Upon review, the Tulsa Health Department does not believe local contact tracing data supports leaving a mask order in place for restaurant and bar employees while they are at work once our mask ordinance lapses at the end of the day on April 30,” Bynum stated in a social media post.

The Mayor went on to state that he will “issue a new executive order that ends this requirement at the same time our mask ordinance expires.”

However, he stated the “civil emergency and the requirement for safety plans on any event of 500 people or more” will remain in place.

Bynum said the city and health officials will continue monitoring COID-19 trends and will adjust as needed.
