Parts of downtown Pawhuska are going back to a different era.

“We are exchanging the tinted glass that was in here for clear glass to be more authentic,” said Basil Smith, with Apex Glass based in Cleveland, Oklahoma.

Storefronts on Kihekah Avenue are rapidly transforming backwards 100 years, all part of the production for Martin Scorsese’s “Killers of the Flower Moon.”

The project is filming right now in other parts of Osage County and moves to Kihekah Avenue later this month.

Doreen Linder owns Salt Creek, a store along Kihekah Avenue. She said filmmakers won’t use her business since its further up the street, so she plans on staying open.

“I’ve had several phone calls and I’ve had emails and Facebook messenger asking me what the status is. Is the town closed? The town is certainly not closed we are certainly open for business,” said Linder.

Linder hopes business booms because of it.

While a few businesses featured in the movie will close during filming, she said many other restaurants and shops will be open and welcoming tourists, who she hopes will explore Pawhuska for the first time.

“There is so much to see here besides a movie set,” she said.

Traffic on parts of Kihekah Avenue is closed going southbound as crews work on the movie.
