The Oklahoma Employment Security Commission is hosting a large job fair at the Tulsa Expo Center on Thursday and Friday featuring 3,600 job openings. According to the OESC, about 20,000 Tulsans are currently in need of a job after the pandemic.

The event begins at 9 a.m. and goes through 4 p.m. both days with veterans being granted early access at 8:30 a.m. each day.

The OESC said that this event is not only beneficial to people who are looking for jobs, but also for the companies who are in need of workers and looking to quickly hire.

In March, Tulsa’s preliminary unemployment rate was 4.2%, which adds up to about 20,000 people. To bring those numbers down, about 3,600 employers are expected to be represented at the job event over the next two days.

The available positions include options such as the United States Postal Service, Google, Oklahoma State University, and more. OESC officials say the wide range of industries as a whole include technology, hospitality, retail, construction, manufacturing, finance, and insurance industries.

OESC Executive Director Shelley Zumwalt said, “We are confident that these career fairs will help rebuild Oklahoma’s workforce and strengthen Tulsa’s economy by providing employers and claimants with an opportunity to connect.”

Pre-registration is not required but it is encouraged. Claimants who attend can fulfill their weekly work search requirement through this event. If you would like to register, Click Here.

There are also job fairs being held in McAlester, Lawton, Enid, and Oklahoma City.

For those unable to attend in person, there is also a virtual fair option going on until May 28.
