A Tulsa mother is dead, and another woman seriously hurt after a crash. Police said it happened Saturday morning near Apache and Yale and they believe the tragedy was related to street racing.

Tulsa Police said this is one of two deadly crashes this weekend caused by people speeding.

28-year-old Audreaunna Williams’ father, Darnel Wright, said this accident could've been prevented and he's absolutely heartbroken.

“The worst thing a parent can go through, you know, especially because it wasn't due to a medical illness, it was due to drag racing,” said Wright.

Wright said his daughter Audreaunna was always smiling. He said she was kind-hearted and a great mother to her 11-year-old son.

“She was just a beautiful spirit to be around, she was the life of the party," said Wright.

Tulsa Police say an 18-year-old man driving a Charger was racing another car down Yale early Saturday morning. Officers say when the driver got to Apache, he went through the red light and struck the car Williams was driving.

Audreaunna and her friend were both ejected from the car. Her friend is now in the hospital with very serious injuries.

"I'm pretty sure that he wasn't out to injure anyone that night, but his recklessness caused the death of another and possibly the death of somebody else also,” said Tulsa Police Officer Andre Baul.

Tulsa Police said the driver of the car was hurt but is expected to be OK. Officers say those involved could face charges for Audreaunna's death.

"I just pray that he uses his life to speak out against those doing the same thing he was doing because we're losing kids out here,” said Wright.

Wright said his daughter only lived in Tulsa for a year, but said she's made lasting connections.

Family and friends gathered to release balloons to heaven and Wright said he could tell Audreaunna was watching over them.

“Her mother said shine down, shine down and it was like the cloud just moved and the sun came out and it got warm and you could feel a little breeze,” said Wright, “It was like her spirit was there.”

Wright also has a GoFundMe page here to help with funeral expenses for his daughter.
