Players are teeing off on Thursday at Southern Hills for the 2021 KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship, but as severe weather threats move into Green Country organizers are making sure plans are in place to keep event-goers safe.
Senior PGA Director Bryan Karns said if the threat of storms gets close, they will sound sirens and alert people on the video boards to get off the course.
According to Karns, organizers will give attendees as much notice as possible so people are not scrambling at the last minute.
Currently, crews are strapping tents down in preparation for the storms.
Despite no plans for a shuttle service, Karns said that plan has changed. Volunteer parking has been moved off the grass lots and shuttling from the Mabee Center has begun.
According to Karns, anyone coming out can also shuttle from the Mabee Center currently. Karns said organizers plan to get the word about the shuttle services out by Friday and plan to use signage to indicate to event-goers where they will be able to park and take the shuttle.
The first tee time on Thursday is set for 7:10 a.m.
Tickets are still available for the championship rounds. They are $40 when you buy online.
