An animal rescue group in Muskogee says they are devastated after two dogs they were in the processing of rescuing were found shot in the head.
They say a third dog is still missing, and they are hoping someone will come forward with information. Fur Babies Adoptions and Rescue were in the process of rescuing three abandoned dogs from a country road near Haskell, but when they went to pick up the dogs, the volunteers say they were shocked at what they found.
"It's just horrible, it's horrible to think someone could do this to an animal or anyone," said board member Natasha Benge.
Natasha Benge says they found two of the dogs had been shot in the head, and one of the dogs is missing.
"Not only were they shot, but you could see where they drug them across the ground, and then threw them into the creek bed," she said.
She says Muskogee County Sheriff's Office is investigating and this has been a heart-wrenching situation. She says the volunteers feel like they let the dogs down but hope someone will come forward with information.
"We're hoping to find her, or if someone knows where she is or if the people that did this took her, we want her," she said.
Benge says this entire situation makes her angry, but she wants people to know if they can't take care of their animals, there are people who can help them.
"There's no point in doing that, if you cant take care of your animals there's plenty of rescues and shelters, there's someone out there willing to help you or guide you in the right direction," she said.
There is a $1,500 reward for anyone with information. If you do have information, contact the Muskogee County Sheriff's Office.
