It was a daylong battle at the top in the final round of the Supreme Lending Classic in Broken Arrow as former Oklahoma State golfer Brendon Jelley and former Baylor Bear Colin Kober went back-and-forth in the lead throughout the day.
Heading into the 18th hole, Jelley held a one stroke lead over Kober with both men putting approach shots into the bunker.
Kober tried for a chip-in birdie to force a playoff but was unsuccessful. Jelley sunk his par putt to clinch the win.
"When I made that last two or three-foot putt, that’s when it really kind of sunk in,” Jelley said. “I was trying not to think about it too much, but obviously, seeing that last putt go in was pretty cool.”
Jelley felt it was his tournament to lose when he parred on 15. He finished the day with four birdies.
He believed Saturday’s victory has him in the driver’s seat for the rest of the year.
"I feel like my game is in a really good place,” Jelley said. “I feel like I'm trending in the right direction, and I hope to peak at the right time in the fall for Korn Ferry Q school. That’s really the end goal.”
The game of golf can be unpredictable. Jelley said he will take what went right this week with him as he continues to climb the professional ranks.
"It’s a process,” Jelley said. “It becomes more difficult every year to get there. It’s nice to see all the hard work pay off and I felt like I was today. And coming into the week, I had a good feeling about it.”
The All Pro Tour heads to Bella Vista, Arkansas next for the NWA Charity Classic.
