Nearly half of those living in Tulsa County have received at least one COVID-19 shot.

The Tulsa County Health Department said vaccination rates have remained steady over the past few weeks, but they're hoping increased access and awareness will help more people decide to get one.

According to the CDC, 40% of Tulsa County residents were fully vaccinated and nearly half have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 Vaccine as of 6 a.m. Tuesday.

The Tulsa Health Department said they aren't seeing any significant spread across the county, but they do hope more people will get vaccinated in case that changes.

Like much of the country, the City of Tulsa is continuing to come back to life after the COVID-19 pandemic, and the Tulsa Health Department said having vaccines at some of these larger events, like Juneteenth, is helping raise awareness that they're out there.

According to the CDC, 40.6% of Tulsa County's population is fully vaccinated. Nearby 30% of Roger's County is fully vaccinated, 31% of Wagoner and Muskogee Counties, 28% of Creek and Okmulgee Counties, 20% of Osage County, and just over 27% of Washington County.

THD Epidemiologist Madison Thomas said Tulsa County's percentage is still going up, but not as quickly as it was a few months ago.

"We are seeing still a steady increase of individuals getting vaccinated but just not as steep of an increase as it was at the very beginning,” said Thomas.

Thomas said they're continuing to test for variants but haven't seen any particular one spreading here in Tulsa.

"I know there's been some concerns about the Delta variant circulating in the United States so with that in mind, I definitely think it underscores how important it is to get vaccinated to protect yourself against this COVID and other variants that may be circulating around,” said Thomas.
