The CDC's eviction moratorium is set to end next Wednesday, June 30. However, there are still resources available from the City of Tulsa to help residents and landlords dealing with past-due rent.
This comes as a high number of eviction cases are expected to be heard in Tulsa County starting in July. But some local organizations are working to stop evictions and let people know the options out there. Two of those options are the Emergency Rental Assistance Program and the Gold Star Landlord Program. Both programs work with tenants and landlords to prevent evictions and homelessness.
The Emergency Rental Assistance Program recently launched in March and, so far, has given out nearly $4,000,000 in rental and utility assistance to more than 1,000 homes impacted by the pandemic. Meanwhile, the Gold Star Landlord Program gives incentives and rewards to landlords who engage in the best rental practices. The city says there are currently more than 12 Gold Star landlords in Tulsa.
Another free option is the Early Settlement Mediation Program, which gives tenants and landlords a way to voluntarily resolve disputes outside of a courtroom.
