Archeologists are in their fourth week of the full excavation work being done at Oaklawn Cemetery, to search for any victims from the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre.
There are now 18 individuals' remains at the onsite lab at Oaklawn.
Members of the Public Oversight Committee, along with several local church leaders, brought the latest set of remains across the cemetery to the lab on Wednesday afternoon.
One of the church leaders was reading scripture as everyone carefully walked over.
Activist and Public Oversight Committee member Kristi Williams said while it is emotionally and spiritually draining for her to be at Oaklawn every day, she never forgets the focus of the work being done there.
"Just to know that we are literally just like giving these bodies a chance to have a proper burial is very important. And that's priority,” Williams said.
The city and archeologists did not provide any update Wednesday. The city said a news conference is scheduled to take place at noon on Friday.
