Oven Roasted Barbecue Ribs

Heather Berryhill is back with another summer recipe. In today's cooking corner, she shows us how to make oven roasted barbecue ribs.

Ingredients:

  1. Turkey Sized Reynolds Wrap Browning Bag
  2. 2 Large, Sweet Onions
  3. 2 Tablespoons All Purpose Flour
  4. 1-2 packages of Pork Country-Style Ribs
  5. 2-4 Tablespoons of Garlic Powder
  6. 2-4 Tablespoons Celery Seed
  7. 1 Bottle Liquid Smoke (Hickory)
  8. 2 Bottles Head Country BBQ Sauce (Any flavor will do. Apple Habanero was used for this recipe)
  9. 1/4 Cup Worcestershire Sauce
  10. Salt & Fresh Cracked Black Pepper (To Taste)

DIRECTIONS:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Open up the turkey-sized browning bag. Sprinkle flour inside bag. Give the bag a shake to evenly coat the bag.

Place bag on a large, deep cookie sheet or roasting pan.

Cut up both onions into thick slices and punch out rings. Lay one layer of onion rings from one onion, in the bottom of the bag.

Open up your package of ribs and place on a separate cookie sheet. Generously coat both sides of the ribs with the garlic powder, celery seed, salt and pepper. (Note: Careful not to over salt as the remaining Ingredients have a high salt content.)

Once ribs are seasoned, carefully place inside of the browning bag, on top of the layer of first layer of onions.

Then, place the remaining onion rings on top of the ribs inside of the bag.

Evenly distribute the bottle of liquid smoke, 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce, and 1 bottle of Head Country BBQ sauce on top of the ribs.

Seal the bag with the tie that comes in the browning bag box. Poke a few small slits/holes in the top of the browning bag for venting. Make sure bag and ribs are all tucked in nicely on your deep cookie sheet or roasting pan. Don’t allow anything to hang over the edges.

Put ribs in a preheated oven for 1 hour and 15 minutes or up to 1.5 hours depending on the amount ribs in your bag. (Note: Follow browning bag cooking instructions if you are unsure on cook time according to weight.)

Once ribs are done cooking in bag, pull out of the oven and remove ribs from browning bag.

Place on a foil-lined cookie sheet. Pull those cooked onions out too and distribute all over the tops of the cooked ribs.

Take the remaining bottle of BBQ sauce and and pour over the tops of the ribs, giving each one a generous coverage.

Place ribs back in the oven, uncovered, and broil for 5-8 minutes. Or until bubbly. (Note: You’re looking for that BBQ sauce to bake on to the ribs. Watch closely as not to burn.)

Once ribs are bubbly and looking delicious, remove from oven. Allow to cool for 10 minutes before serving.
