Muggy weather and dodging scattered storms: That’ll be the theme across Green Country this weekend!

Rain and storms will gradually thin out by the midday hours of our Friday across most of Green Country, with sun returning for the second half of the day in most spots. We’ll have highs ranging from the 80s where clouds hang around to 90 where sunshine more quickly returns. And with a muggy airmass quickly returning as well, heat index values will still surge towards the upper 90s by late afternoon in the sunniest spots.

The weather pattern will stay unsettled throughout the weekend as a stalled out front hangs around southeast Kansas and northeast Oklahoma. Additional widely scattered storms look to flare up from Friday evening through Saturday morning. It’ll be another setup where some spots will see very heavy rains while others remain dry.

Storm Chance Timeline

Saturday looks similar to today: Overall higher storm chances in the morning, but lower chances in the afternoon, and then additional storms flaring up in the evening hours. We’ll have highs in the upper 80s to lower 90s Saturday afternoon, with heat index values surging near 100 due to continued high humidity. Sunday also looks to follow a similar pattern with morning and evening storms possible, with a warm & humid afternoon sandwiched in-between.

Rain chances continue into Monday as that stalled out front finally gets a shove further south across eastern Oklahoma. This will push the higher rain chances south of our viewing area after Monday, and it’ll also help trim our temperatures and humidity values down a few degrees as well. Overall, we’re looking at another stretch of below-normal high temperatures for the first half of next week!
