The Tulsa Health Department is working to make it easier for children to get their back-to-school immunizations ahead of the fall semester.
THD is getting the word out now to help families beat the rush to get vaccinations before school starts in a few weeks.
The health department said back-to-school shots are the best way to protect children against vaccine-preventable diseases.
While THD is encouraging everyone 12 and older to get the COVID-19 vaccine, it said children need other immunizations for school. THD said children have routine vaccinations due after turning 4 years old and 11 years old. THD also said there's a required vaccine for students going into 7th grade.
THD is now accepting vaccination appointments at the Collinsville Health Center, once a week on Tuesdays, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. It also has several other clinic locations open for immunizations by appointment only.
The list of locations and operating hours is below:
Anyone can schedule an appointment by calling 918-582-9355. Online scheduling is also available. (please hyperlink “Online Scheduling) https://thd.sjc1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_9EK1KRlTbmDEWLc
Children 17 and younger must have a parent or guardian with them in order to get vaccinations.
