Portion Of Gilcrease Expressway Named In Honor Of Former State Rep. Don Ross

The City of Tulsa renamed a portion of the Gilcrease Expressway in honor of a former state representative, who was instrumental in creating a commission to look into the Tulsa Race Massacre.

The stretch from North Lewis Avenue to the Tisdale Parkway is now the “Don Ross Expressway.”

Mayor G.T. Bynum met with Ross and his family to celebrate the dedication Wednesday.

When Ross was a state representative, he cosponsored a resolution that created a 1921 Tulsa Race Riot Commission. He also helped secure funds to build the Gilcrease Expressway.
