A Tulsa man is describing a terrifying situation where he was face to face with a burglar in the dark, who broke into his house on Cherry Street.

The victim tells us Thomas Allen broke in while he and his wife were sleeping, rummaged through the house, and even drank some of their milk. The victim, Sam Luna, says woke up to his dogs barking and went to check the front door, only to see it unlocked and broken glass. Seconds later he heard a voice behind him saying, "I've got a gun. Don't move.." Luna decided, he wasn't going to be a victim.

"I kind of at once take the blanket, throw it at him, it doesn't really cover him or anything but it was enough of a distraction to where I was able to grab ahold of him and slam him on the ground,” said Luna.

Luna’s Ring doorbell camera caught video of Tulsa Police getting to the home after Sam Luna tackled the intruder. Luna says he was in his house with the suspect, Thomas Allen, for 15 minutes trying to figure out what to do. Meanwhile, Luna's wife was hiding under the bed, calling the police.

"He's like I've got a gun. Don't look at me. He's like Don't look at my face,” said Luna.

Luna says he didn't have his glasses on and it was dark, so he could barely see the suspect. He says he didn't know his wife was calling the police, so he was trying to keep the suspect calm.

"For most of the exchange, I was just trying to go by, like what do you need? I'll help you out here. But it got scary there when he just wasn't leaving,” said Luna.

Luna says the man claimed he had a gun, wouldn't leave, wasn't making sense and at times was ordering Luna around. Luna says when he noticed police cars pulling up, he decided to take the Allen down.

"This guy, hey he fought back, that's what a lot of people do. They don't want their home invaded and they don't want to be a victim,” said Andre Baul with Tulsa Police.

"We're just fortunate there wasn't a firearm involved in any matter,” said Luna. “We had the best case possible resolution."

Luna says he’s grateful his dogs woke him up and that his wife was able to secretly call the police. Records show Allen has been arrested before for drugs, burglary, and stolen vehicles.
