Hurricane Ida has moved out of Louisiana, but recovery efforts are just getting started.
Now a tropical depression, Ida is already blamed for at least two deaths, countless homes have been destroyed and more than a million people are still without power.
As people in the Gulf Coast pick up the pieces, Oklahoma’s own are stepping up to help.
One neighborhood in Ponchatoula took a direct hit from the hurricane and is left with devastating damage. People who live in the neighborhood estimated the wind had to be more than 100 miles per hour.
Despite the widespread damage, many people are finding a way to stay positive and get to work on the cleanup.
News On 6’s Craig Day and Reagan Ledbetter are on the ground in Louisiana to show us the damage as well as the people working to clean up the aftermath.
