More healthcare options are rolling out across Green Country, including a new pop-up COVID testing site in Tulsa and mobile health vans.
The site may be temporary, but many changes to mobile healthcare are here to stay.
Marissa Krispense with the ARC Diagnostics mobile testing site near 51st and Peoria said the demand for COVID-19 testing started booming over the last few weeks, driving them to open the new site.
"We just saw a massive uptick," Krispense said.
Ashley Roberts, a primary care nurse practitioner serving eight northeastern Oklahoma counties, said the pandemic has taught healthcare workers many lessons, but a big one is getting care to people in underserved areas.
"All of our vehicles can do testing, they can all do vaccination, any kind of vaccination," Roberts said, describing three vehicles the counties will use to extend their healthcare reach.
Anything in a normal doctor's office can be found in the new mobile healthcare trailer. Roberts said the two vans can also be used for less intensive checkups.
“This is our biggest and best attempt at meeting people at their homes," she said.
Someday, the pandemic will be in the rearview mirror, but mobile healthcare sites like these will keep on trucking.
This testing site is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and for a few hours each Saturday.
The mobile health sites are available several days a week for walk-ins. You can call health departments or check online to see where they'll be.
