Pilot Undergoes Surgery After Small Plane Crash Near Harvey Young Airport

Emergency crews responded to the scene of a crash involving a small plane near a Tulsa church, just south of Harvey Young Airport.

The crash occurred near 129th East Avenue and East 21st Street on Monday morning.

Tulsa police officers arrived at approximately 10:30 a.m. to a plane crash near the Tulsa Hmong Alliance Church located at 13350 E. 21st St.

Police said the pilot was found inside of the crashed plane, a home built Monnett Moni.

A witness told authorities they saw the plan struggle to take off. Once in the air, they said the plane drifted and lost cost control before crashing in the church's parking lot.

The pilot was taken to Ascension St. John Medical Center where he underwent surgery.

At last check, the pilot is in serious condition, according to the report.

There were no other injuries.

The crash remains under investigation by the FAA
